Eagle Eye Tours - Northwest Argentina

Northwest Argentina

From: $500 CAD

From the subtropical Yungas forests to the high-altitude Andean Altiplano, this tour offers an excellent introduction to northwestern and central Argentina’s diverse habitats and birdlife.

Beginning near Salta, the lush cloud forests host a rich mix of tanagers, hummingbirds, and elusive forest species. In nearby Calilegua National Park, diversity increases further, with parrots, antpittas, and mixed feeding flocks regularly encountered.

As the journey climbs in elevation, landscapes open into rugged terrain around Humahuaca Canyon, where Andean Condors, flamingos, and a range of high-altitude specialists appear, along with endemics such as Tucuman Mountain Finch, Bare-eyed Ground Dove, and Salinas Monjita.

The route continues through Monte and Chaco habitats, home to species like Sandy Gallito and White-throated Cacholote, before returning to the Yungas for additional specialties including Yellow-striped Brushfinch.

The tour concludes in the Córdoba highlands, focusing on regional endemics such as Córdoba Cinclodes, Olrog’s Cinclodes, and Carbonated Sierra-Finch. Throughout, participants experience a wide variety of birdlife across dramatically changing landscapes.
